Exhibit touts beauty of food
Here's an art exhibit that is good enough to eat — "Let Them Eat Art" is a group show of paintings and photographs by Hudson Valley artists on view at G.A.S. Visual Art and Performance Space in Poughkeepsie. Food in all its glorious guises has been captured by artists in forms that are both real and fantastic. It's the perfect exhibit for a food blog, to say the least.
And if you've never visited this gallery in the city, now is a good time to do so.
G.A.S. is a multi-media gallery that is owned and operated by a group of local artists. The monthly shows feature an eclectic mix of media, from paintings and sculptures to photographs and installations. There is also a quaint outdoor patio space that is often used for musical performances and other events. Poetry slams and performance art are also part of the offerings.
"Let Them Eat Art" is a celebration of food. In addition to the exhibit, Twisted Soul, a great Asian/Latin-American restaurant in Poughkeepsie that features tapas, presented a cooking demonstration and tasting Aug. 24. And when the exhibit opened Aug. 16, there were receptions at both G.A.S. and Twisted Soul. This is the type of creative affair G.A.S. regularly presents.
So head on over to see this mouth-watering exhibit before it closes Sept. 14.
Until then, here's a little taste of what you can expect to see:
Hungry? Head over to G.A.S. and satisfy your artistic appetite.
