Food to suit 'An Organic Octave Overture'
I have lots of cooking to do for an opening reception Saturday for this fabulous exhibit at Mill Street Loft in Poughkeepsie (45 Pershing Ave.).
Oh, yeah, that happens to be my husband's show — "An Organic Octave Overture" — an eclectic mix of photographs that has spanned more than 30 years in the Hudson Valley — that's the "now and then" part of it.
For those of you who know Poughkeepsie, you might recognize that underpass on Tucker Drive. Years ago, the graffiti, "Clapton is Still God," sent out a vibrant message that has since weathered over the years.
Michael picked up on it and used the photo as the basis for the announcement card, which also features the late, great Bob Marley taken at the Mid-Hudson Civic Center in 1978 (then) and the maestro, Carlos Santana, taken 30 years later at the Times Union Center in Albany.
I am very proud of Michael's work and his teaching skills at Oakwood Friends School and the Mill Street Loft. We want this opening reception to be a celebration of his work, the beauty and inspiration of the Hudson Valley, organic music and family and friends.
Food is also a big part of all that, so I will be catering the reception. (Busy, busy bee, that's me!)
Ethnic vegetarian food fits into the "organic" theme of M's photos and philosophy on life, peppered with some live music. I will be hitting the cuisines of Italy, Greece and Mexico for some fine finger foods and dips.
So if you're in the area, stop by for the show.
And check back after the weekend for scenes from "An Organic Octave Overture."
I wish I lived near you, I'd be there! Sounds like your going to have quite an evening!!! Your food sounds like it will be wonderful. Congrats to your husband!
