Our health is something we should think about all the time, especially when it comes to fueling the body.
Good food is key to good health.
But we are human, after all, and sometimes our health and diet take a backseat in this hectic world of ours.
Now is a good time to pause and reflect on what you eat and how it can impact your health.
March is National Nutrition Month, and the Mid-Hudson Dietetic Association and the Poughkeepsie Journal will once again host Dial-A-Dietitian tonight to help you find the path to eating properly and living a more healthful lifestyle.
A panel of five dietitians will take calls, e-mails and work a live blog tonight from 6-8 (EST) on topics that include nutrition for the young and old, allergies, weight management and more. So think about it and see if there is something you would like to ask the experts about your diet and how good food can make you feel better.
Let's face it, times are tough, the economy is rough and you might think cutting back on food is one way to tighten your budget. Fast food joints can be tempting if you want a quick meal that doesn't cost a lot, but the hidden fat, calories and sodium in those foods can eat away at your well-being. You can buy a sack of brown rice and beans and make nutritious meals for many nights using a minimum of other ingredients for what it might cost for a family-sized fast-food meal. Think about the alternatives and get back to basic foods that don't carry a litany of ingredients and additives on their labels.
Call 845-451-4541 between 6-8 tonight (EST). Or, submit your question online at www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/news/forms/dietitian.htm.
You can also go to www.poughkeepsiejournal.com between 6 and 8 p.m. where you will also be able to ask questions via a live blog.
It's never too late to make even small changes in the way you eat to help you get back on track when it comes to your health.
