Two Easter projects are a must for the feast

(Old silk ties make lovely patterns on eggs for Easter)

Dyeing Easter eggs with silk ties is an easy, colorful way to brighten up those baskets for the holiday.
Inspired by the Queen of Crafting, Martha Stewart, Tie-Dyed Easter Eggs is a muss-free project that is fun and simple to do. Plus, you can recycle the materials for several years. Every now and then I will pick up a different silk tie in a thrift store for $1 and add that to the collection, but the material goes a long when it comes to dyeing. Make sure to wash and dry the ties first before using. (This can be done by hand in cold water.)

I've been making eggs this way for the past couple years and will be doing it again this week in time for Easter Sunday. There's still time to gather up the materials if you're interested in doing it. You'll also need some plain, white fabric, such as old handkerchiefs or cotton T-shirts, to use with the silk.

(Pizza Grana is made with wheat berries, ricotta, eggs, citrus and dried fruits)

Oh, and what's Easter without a Pizza Grana? Here's a delicious, easy recipe for this Italian Easter pie my mother always used to make. I have to go shopping this week for the ingredients.

Happy Easter!

  2. Thanks, Pam. The eggs dyed this way is really a fun project.
The grain pie is one of my favorite Easter recipes - it's like a meal in itself.
