Easter eggs have real character

Buona Pasqua!

From my kitchen to yours, may your feast day be festive and peppered with love.
I'm sure many of my favorite bloggers are busy as bees this weekend in preparation for the big feast. I look forward to seeing some of the recipes that graced your tables.

I'm taking a break from kitchen duty to share this year's batch of tie-dyed Easter eggs. I feel like a kid when I break out the ingredients for this project.

This year, I used two new "old" ties I bought for $1 each at a local thrift store. The one with the Looney Tunes characters worked really well, because of the colorful design with many of my favorite cartoon characters peeking out from swirls of paisley.

That's right, there's Bugs, Wile E. Coyote, Road Runner, the Tazmania Devil, Yosemite Sam and that looney Marvin the Martian. I wondered how this design would translate onto the eggs.

As you can see, it worked really well, with subtle sneers from the Coyote on the egg to the left, and Bugs grinning from the eggs in the center and foreground. After dyeing the eggs, I rub them with a little vegetable oil to give them a nice sheen.

These eggs are almost too cute to crack.

Happy Easter!

  2. Buona Pasqua! These colorful eggs will elicit smiles for as long as they last. I won't be the first one to crack them open!

  3. Thank you, Joe and Claudia! The very same to you and yours.

I know, Claudia, it was a tough egg to crack, but someone had to be first, plus I was craving an egg salad sandwich for lunch today! :-)
